1) Don't be afraid to use a mirror. If you don't have a mirror, use one of those little pose mannequins you can get at the arts and crafts store.
2) In this picture, I would reccomend bringing the leg out just a little more. Make the thigh longer and bring the knee up a tad, then put the foot out farther, angling it just below the knee or just past it. Think stabilization. In this kind of pose, stable is good, but boring is bad. Keep that in mind for future poses. I'll have another drawing done soon that involves an action pose like this one, so you can see what I mean.
3) Facial features: He has the right look, but you should make his eyes and mouth a bit bigger. If he's thinking "Bring it on", make his face look like that too. Give him "angry" eyes, but a maniacle smile. Bring the corner of his mouth up just a bit, to show that he's actually smiling, not just grinning, but smiling. You have the right idea, I'm just trying to offer some friendly advice.
